The KARDS training Department also known as Strategic Community Development Center (SCDC) has over the years continued to offer trainings and empowerment to different individuals, the Church, NGOs, FBO's and CBO's. The Department offers two kinds of trainings; Regular Trainings during the year at Shalom House and On-site trainings at the clients’ site and as per the client’s request.

On-site Trainings

 

KARDS conducts on-site trainings that are specifically designed to meet the clients’ requirements and needs. The trainings are usually conducted within the clients’ premises or their preferred sites. This is after the training needs assessment has been conducted to ascertain the needs of the clients.

The focus of KARDS in resource mobilization is based on inherent organizational capabilities and potential through social entrepreneurship.

KARDS undertakes applied research on various issues affecting the poor in the community. Research provides relevant and current information to social actors so as to enhance their capacity to deliver their services effectively and efficiently.

KARDS partners with other organizations through conducting market research, baseline surveys, needs assessment and trend analyses. The research findings are disseminated to the various publics and other forums associated with KARDS.

 

Some of KARDS past Assignments in Research Work include:

 

  • The struggle of the catholic church in addressing HIV and AIDS (2003 and 2006)

  • The struggle of the Kenya Episcopal Conference in addressing the pastoral challenges facing the youth.

  • The challenges and opportunities of rehabilitation of prisoners and reintegration of those finishing their prison sentences.

  • The projects and activities for street children in Nairobi.

  • Survey to determine the poverty drivers in economically challenged areas of Nairobi.

  • Baseline survey to determine the impact of the existing health facilities for the Sisters of Mercy and Concern Worldwide in the Mukuru informal settlement.

KARDS assists the poor and development organizations with project planning, analyses, staff appraisals, development of strategic plans, management audits, organizational documents and project monitoring and Evaluation. It also supports partners in setting the needed technical and managerial tools that are crucial for the development of projects.

 

Our Past Assignments in Consultancy Include:

  • Consultancy work for Hands of Love, a society that seeks to give hope to those affected with HIV and AIDS.
